How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Magician in the Midlands?
One of the most common questions people ask when planning an event is:
“How much does it cost to hire a magician?”
Across the Midlands, pricing can vary depending on the type of event, the venue location and the experience of the performer.
Having performed at 200+ events and many across the Midlands, including weddings, corporate functions and private celebrations, there are some clear patterns when it comes to what influences the cost of entertainment.
Typical Magician Pricing in the Midlands
While every event is different, most bookings across the Midlands generally fall within a similar price range depending on the type of event.
From experience performing at events across the region:
Private parties typically range from £300–£350
Weddings are usually between £400–£500
Corporate events can range from £450–£600+ depending on scale
The reason pricing varies is usually related to the structure of the event, guest numbers and preparation required.
Corporate events and weddings often involve larger audiences and more structured scheduling, which is why they tend to sit at the higher end of the range.
Why Location in the Midlands Can Affect Pricing
Another factor that sometimes influences pricing is the location of the event within the Midlands.
Cities such as Birmingham often host larger corporate events and hotel functions where entertainment is part of a bigger programme for the evening.
These events may involve:
Larger guest numbers
Longer performance times
Structured dinner or awards schedules
By comparison, smaller private celebrations in towns across Warwickshire, Leicestershire or Northamptonshire may require a shorter performance period and therefore fall at a slightly lower price range.
The key difference is usually the scale of the event rather than the location itself.
What Affects the Price of a Magician?
From performing at more than 200 events and multiple across the Midlands, the main factors that influence pricing tend to be:
Event Type
Weddings and corporate functions usually involve more planning and coordination with venues, photographers and event organisers.
Performance Length
Most bookings are for around 2 hours of close-up magic, but larger events may extend this.
Guest Numbers
Larger audiences may require a combination of walkaround entertainment and structured performances.
Venue Type
Hotel ballrooms, countryside wedding venues and corporate function suites may require different setups or performance styles.
What Most Midlands Events Choose
Looking at booking patterns across the events I’ve performed in the Midlands:
Around 45% are corporate events
Around 40% are weddings
Around 15% are private parties
Each type of event tends to favour slightly different performance styles, but the most common format across the region remains close-up walkaround magic, which works naturally during drinks receptions, networking events and social parts of the evening.
